Holy crap, I wrote a poem

17 Jun

Can’t Wait to Be Old

Two women
Walk hand in hand
Weathered faces, gray hair
Shuffled steps
Silent comfort of friends
In the hospital hall
Remember such moments
Ever

Pass them with young legs
Youth is beauty
Everything before
All excitement and glory
The world for the taking
Yet

How great to be old
To see time
Stretched behind you
Life’s meaning known
In those moments
Your world created
Held in wrinkled hands
All your own
Yours

“Yes, I was there. I did that.”

Thanks. I couldn’t believe it popped into my head. I haven’t written a poem since high school English class. I think the Lit class is seeping in.

It’s great when poems just spring to mind. Nice job. 🙂

This was amazing! You should definitely write more poems!! 🙂
I loved how you portrayed being old; so positive and peaceful…

Really? Thanks! I never thought of myself as a poet, but it was interesting. Like catching a thought as a snapshot, a frozen moment.
